Bio-inspired algorithms have a unique ability to solve complex problems, especially those where conventional approaches are not as effective. The only way how to develop them is to accumulate detailed knowledge about specific biological mechanisms and transform this knowledge into a software application or engineering solution. An agent based model – SkyBat, based on long-term observation of bats behavior, is presented on the lecture. The agents cooperate while searching for specific targets of interest in an unknown area. Although the agents are autonomous, they have an ability to move from one location to another without a group leader and to react to changes in the environment.
