II SAS focuses on simulation of fires in structures of transport infrastructure, such as road tunnels and car parks as well as in other structures using high-performance computing infrastructure at II SAS. For simulations, the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) system is used. Research on parallelization of calculation for increase of the simulation performance and its impact on accuracy and reliability of simulation results is carried out. Research on forest fires ans fires in wildland-urban interface  is also included. Collaboration with important institutions responsible for fire safety in the Slovak Republic and abroad is established.
