The EGEE Industry Day took place on 19 September 2007 in Bratislava; it was organised within a series of similar events supported by international EGEE consortium. more info
Several large- and small-scale communities use the EGEE infrastructure as an every-day tool for their work. Applications deployed come from High Energy Physics, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Astrophysics, and Computational Chemistry. Biomedicine is one of major application fields of the EGEE project. With 23 applications deployed and being ported, it is subdivided into three areas: medical image processing, biomedicine, and drug discovery, all of which already have many individual applications deployed on the EGEE infrastructure. Recent similar event took place on 24 November 2006 in Helsinki, under the name EGEE Industry Day - Biomedical Challenges in Grid Adoption between Research and Industry.
Institute of Informatics, Slovak Academy of Sciences has long-time experience in grid computing. We ware preparing the EGEE Industry Day with the effort to make EGEE grid infrastructure available for the representatives of Slovak medicine.
The main topics of intended presentations:
- general introduction to grids, namely to EGEE infrastructure, with short examples of application in various fields (astrophysics, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, medicine, banking, etc.)
- presentations of successfully realised applications in pharmaceutical industry and medicine in EU countries
- topical information about current status of eHealth in Slovakia.
