Systems modelling and intelligent control synthesis (Methods and algorithms of the cooperative interaction of intelligent decentralised control subsystems based on DES.)
Doc. Ing. F. Capkovic, PhD. (head of the group)

The project is focused on the research of decentralized control of systems by means of intelligent control subsystems and control agents. Because the behaviour of such subsystems depends on the occurrence of discrete events, the subsystems will be modelled by methods used for discrete event systems (DES), epecially by those based on Petri nets. However, the modular approach will be used. It will be possible to join separate moduls into higher complexes by means of arbitrary interconnections. Such a model of the control system will be able to express explicitly mutual interconnections among the moduls. This allows to examine the impact of the interconnections on the effectiveness of the object control. The design of suitable methods and algorithms of the purposeful cooperative interaction among moduls is the main goal of the project.

Discrete manufacturing processes control (Adaptive scheduling of job-shop tasks in discrete event dynamic systems)
Ing. I. Budinska, PhD. (head of the group)

Multi-agent approach for dynamic scheduling in production systems, hierarchical decision making in multi level systems. The aim is to create a multi-agent scheduling system and the system of rules for mutual coordination, negotiation and assessment of conflict situations in the process of the scheduling in production systems. The possible use of such a system is in energetic, in order market driven production planning, in job-shop scheduling of a flexible production system in small and medium enterprises, in telecommunication systems and there are many more applications.
